Body found in Somenos Marsh
A decomposing body has been found at Somenos Marsh.
A Duncan resident walking in the marsh north of the Trans-Canada Highway and Beverly Street intersection early this morning discovered the body and called the police.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP visited the scene with a coroner, and recovered the body of what appeared to be a heavy-set male,
“Police are taking into account ongoing missing persons investigations, but cannot comment on or confirm the identify of the individual, nor the apparent cause of death, until an autopsy has been conducted and completed,” an RCMP statement explained.
Const. Markus Lueder said that autopsy is expected sometime this week.
“There did not appear to be any obvious signs of foul play but police have treated the incident with the necessary investigational integrity should the autopsy reveal otherwise,” the police statement goes on to say.
Anyone with information about this matter can call the RCMP detachment at 250-748-5522.
