Fine issued for assaulting cop

Larry McKenzie has paid the price for assaulting a Lake Cowichan RCMP officer.

McKenzie was fined $200 in Duncan Provincial court on July 26, plus a surcharge of $30 to be paid to Victim Services in connection to a June 26, 2010 outside Lake Cowichan’s Esso Station.

“He attempted to head-but him twice, and kicked the (RCMP) member from the back of the cruiser,” Lake Cowichan RCMP Cpl. Warren Potter said.

The incident occurred as McKenzie was being arrested for an outstanding warrant related to a June 12, 2009 incident of willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer in Duncan.
