UPDATED: Duncan house fire causes extensive damage
There were no injures but significant damage caused by a house fire on McKinstry Road.
The blaze caught in the back entrance of the Duncan home at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Duncan fire chief Mike McKinlay said 18 volunteer firefighters attended with three trucks and two pumps, and were on scene for about 1 1/2 hours.
“There was quite a bit of smoke damaged, and that back area of the home is going to have to be repaired,” he said.
While the cause of the fire is still being investigated by the homeowner’s insurance provider, Duncan inspector David Hewetson said the damage was significant.
“This was not a $5,000 fire,” he said. “It was more of a $50,000 fire.”
The residents of the home, meanwhile, were in the house at the time the fire broke out, but all made it out unharmed.
