Duncan man struck by SUV on Allenby

A Duncan man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Allenby Road.

The incident happened at approximately 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

"Police attended to find a male lying in the roadway on Allenby near Club Road," North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP spokesman Cpl. Kevin Day said.

"Investigation revealed that a 1992 Ford Explorer was northbound on Allenby when the male driver suddenly noticed a pedestrian standing in the middle of the road," Day added.

"The male driver was unable to avoid to male pedestrian, and struck him."

No charges are being recommended for the 60-year-old Duncan man driving the Explorer.

The pedestrian, a 33-year-old Duncan man, was transported to Cowichan District Hospital.
