Cobble Hill post office employee accused of stealing mail in court today
The Cobble Hill Canada Post employee accused of stealing mail earlier this year appeared in Duncan court today.
Chelsea Rae Mcgaw, who is in her mid-20s, is charged with theft of mail and possessing stolen mail, a mail container or key.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges on May 1, and was in court Tuesday for an arraignment hearing.
Mcgaw was arrested in February following an investigation by Shawnigan Lake RCMP officers in conjunction with Canada Post postal inspectors.
It was reported at the time of Mcgaw's arrest that she has been suspended from her employment at Canada Post pending the outcome of the investigation.
"The recovered mail will be forwarded to the affected customers with a letter of explanation from the Post Office once the investigation has been completed," Shawnigan Lake RCMP Sgt. Rob Webb added at the time.
