Duncan man arrested during vehicle theft in core Cobble Hill
A witness' tip led to the bust of a Duncan man during Wednesday's attempted vehicle theft in core Cobble Hill, Shawnigan Lake RCMP say.
Mounties answered a citizen report of an attempted break-in at Cobble Hill Fine Furnishings at 2:40 a.m. Aug. 22.
They found a lone male inside a white, 2007 cube van at Cobble Hill Fine Furnishings, Sgt. Rob Webb said.
"Police arrested the 40-year-old male from Duncan without incident.
"The vehicle's ignition was jammed with a pair of scissors, and the vehicle had been thoroughly rummaged," Webb said, thanking folks keeping their eyes peeled for crime, then reporting it.
RCMP will recommend Criminal Code charges of theft of auto over $5,000, theft under $5,000, and mischief under $5,000, he said.
Suspects' names generally can't be released until charges are laid.
Shawnigan Lake RCMP are at 250-743-5514.
