Privacy commissioner probing medical records found in south-Cowichan garbage
One man's junk is another man's medical record.
But how medical files from a Victoria chiropractor's office came to be dumped on a trash pile in south Cowichan is being investigated by B.C.'s Office of Information & Privacy Commission, Shawnigan Lake RCMP staff say.
The records were recently found in a garbage pile on private property.
The person who discovered them has contacted the commissioner about proper disposal of medical records, Shawnigan RCMP staff said, citing Wednesday's story on CHEK-TV.
They noted the medical-records' find is not being investigated by Shawnigan Lake RCMP.
