Two-vehicle accident at south-end lights slows traffic, spells minor injuries

Saturday's traffic accident in Mill Bay saw minor damage to two vehicles, but no major injuries, Mill Bay's deputy-fire chief said.

"It was a two-vehicle fender bender, with minor injuries — one kid bit his tongue," Jeff Miller said of the crash at around 2 p.m. that left both rides driveable.

After a recent triple tragedy on the Malahat Drive, attended by Miller's hall, he was relieved by Saturday's relatively minor accident.

"Thankfully, no one was taken to hospital. We rolled our rescue truck and (fire) engine, and one ambulance attended."

Folks involved were assessed by paramedics on scene at the Island Highway/Shawnigan Lake-Mill Bay Road intersection lights.

"There were no signs of neck or back injuries."

The collision slowed traffic to a single land for about a half hour, Miller noted.

The crash's cause was still under police investigation.
