Man dies in the Berkey's Corner area Sunday, police confirm
The death of a man Sunday in the Berkey's Corner area is under investigation by the B.C. Coroner's Service.
"I can confirm there was a sudden death on Sunday," North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Cpl. Jon Stuart says in an email this week.
"As there was nothing criminal, the Coroner's Service is the lead agency, and they would be the ones to contact for media."
Coroner Barbara McLintock declined to comment about the death as the investigation continued, but expected some details to be available next week.
An unidentified woman who visited News Leader Pictorial offices Wednesday said the man fell on a path near Berkey's Corner, and died after injuring his neck in a fenced area.
Details about the male's name and identity, his exact cause of death, plus time, place, and witnesses of the tragedy were all unavailable by press time Thursday.
