Motorcycle check leads police to a cache of items inside a vehicle
A man from the Lower Mainland has been charged in connection with an ongoing investigation into two stolen motorcycles in Crofton.
John Shaw is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of a breach of undertaking.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP attended a residence on Crofton Road Dec. 5 and discovered two motorcycles parked next to the residence that matched the description of the stolen motorcycles.
A man working on a car outside the residence said the motorcycles were his, police reported.
"The male was on conditions to not be on Vancouver Island, and the license plate on the vehicle was reported as stolen,'' pointed out Cpl. Jon Stuart in a press release.
The man was a guest of the homeowners, but they did not want the vehicle left on the property since it belonged to a third party.
An inventory taken inside the vehicle before it was towed revealed a second stolen license plate, a loaded starter pistol that looked like a semi-automatic handgun, and several laptops, iPods and other electronic equipment.
