Take a skate for free Sunday
Being lazy and broke just aren't going to cut it as excuses for not getting some exercise Sunday.
It's Free Recreation Day in the Cowichan Valley and there's a couple of different options for people to consider for the sake of their health without any burden at all on the pocketbook.
The Island Savings Centre and Kerry Park and Fuller Lake Arenas are providing incentives not to sit around at home and watch National Football League games on TV all day.
The Cowichan Aquatic Centre jumps the gun on the weekend, offering a free swim Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Island Savings Centre then hosts a free skate Sunday from 1 to 2:20 p.m. and there's also free time available for non-skaters in the Multi-Purpose Hall from noon to 3 p.m. for various sports.
Kerry Park Arena's free skate takes place from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Sunday. At Fuller Lake, the free skate runs from 2:30 to 3:50 p.m.
The annual event is part of a combined effort among recreation centres to promote physical activity and well-being for all valley residents.
