Prevost's playground plan sits fifth in voting
The on-line voting is getting down to the nitty gritty and it's looking good for Ecole Mount Prevost.
The Ecole Mount Prevost Parent Advisory Committee applied for an Aviva community grant to fund a unique application for school playground equipment and a multi-use community space.
Mona Kaiser, chair of the outdoor classroom committee, reported Tuesday Prevost's application was holding onto fifth place out of 762 entries Canada-wide.
"With six days of voting left, we should be guaranteed a spot in the semifinals in December,'' Kaiser noted.
There are additional qualifying rounds from Oct. 21 to Nov. 4 and Nov. 11 to Nov. 25 for those that don't make the top 30 the first time. Winners will be announced in January 2014.
Kaiser stressed the Prevost entry still needs everyone to vote each day until Oct. 14 and not take anything for granted.
Voting can be done at http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf17520.
Kaiser added the outdoor classroom committee met Monday to start sketching a plan for the natural play area. One great idea from a school in Ontario is being considered to see if it can be incorporated here.
It's simple, low-tech, inexpensive and fun.'' Kaiser maintained.
