The health of a scooter driver is unclear after being clipped by a car earlier this week.

RCMP received a call at 4:45 p.m. Monday regarding a scooter meets vehicle incident on Allenby Road that saw the mini-bike's operator shipped to Cowichan District Hospital with unknown injuries.

"The scooter was traveling against the traffic on the shoulder, with no lights," explained North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Cpl. Jon Stuart in an email to the News Leader Pictorial. "The operator was struck by the mirror of the vehicle as it went past."

Everyone involved in the collision stayed on scene before the scooter driver was taken to hospital.

Stuart said the incident is still under investigation.
