Boat trashed on the side of the highway

A local boat owner left his craft at the corner of Mays Road and the Island Highway earlier this month in the hopes it would attract an interested buyer.

It attracted vandals instead.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are investigating after the fishing boat Rosie's Choice was trashed sometime between May 9 and May 12.

"Unknown culprits had other thoughts and have damaged the boat extensively," Cpl. Krista Hobday said in a media release, calling it a senseless crime.

"The upholstery has been slashed as well as every surface including the ceiling of the interior cabin. The toilet was smashed beyond repair and gasoline was poured throughout the interior."
