Motorcyclist sustains leg injury in mishap with truck
A local motorcyclist was taken to hospital Monday at about 2 p.m. with what were believed to be minor injuries after his bike collided with a pickup truck on Boys Road, near Serious Coffee, police say.
Aron Elaschuk suffered what his father, Larry, said were injuries to his left leg at the corner where Boys branches onto a service road beside Budget Rent-A-Car.
"His lower leg from the knee down is hurt," Larry told the News Leader Pictorial while headed to Cowichan District Hospital to check on his son.
He and Elaschuk, 37, manage Serious Coffee.
The amount of damage to Calgarian Elaschuk's silver 2009 Harley Davidson — bearing Alberta plates — was unknown.
His ride collided with a blue Dodge pickup whose driver appeared to be unhurt on scene.
The truck was west on Boys and making a left turn onto the service road when it hit the rear of the bike, police say.
The truck driver, 37, from Duncan, was charged with failing to yield to a vehicle and received a ticket violation, Cpl. Dion Klassen said. The truck driver's name was not released.
The wreck was attended by paramedics, police and Duncan firefighters.
