This will be my last time writing for Island Style. Writing this monthly section has been incredibly inspiring and educational. Each and every month I am astounded by the wealth of creativity that is going on right here in the Cowichan Valley.

In terms of fashion, there are so many wonderful designers and boutique owners creating not just beautiful, but also sustainable clothing for us Cowichan dwellers.

From Hilary Else and Ali Bertin’s luxurious and colourful knitwear, to the sustainable booties and baby clothes by Rock & Roots, Cowichan has really got it going on.

So this fall, when you’re shopping for a new wardrobe take a look around this community and see what you can find. In case you don’t know where to go, we’ve made you a fashion directory of 10 of our favourite local designers to pin up on your fridge as a reminder of what’s hot right here in the Cowichan Valley.

Rock & Roots – Handmade booties and more for babies and now for mothers too!

I am sure there are many more designers we don’t know yet know about so keep your eyes and ears peeled for those new artisans and designer cropping up. With an abundant little town like this one, it’s inevitable that local fashion and style will only get better.

So think well, dress well, be well, and wear what makes you feel well!
