Cowichan rugby women pound on Comox
Ladies of the Cowichan Rugby Club’s senior women’s squad got a lot of action in an away match Saturday in Comox.
Coach Sherry Spence said “lots of ladies” got their “hand on the ball” in a game that saw Cowichan come out 63-7.
“Stand out players were Lenneke Vinoly, who is back from an injury,” Spence said. “She stayed strong in the scrum and had great tackles and runs.”
Top point scorer was Nenagh Mcculloch who scored three tries and two converts.
“Nenagh is such a versatile rugby player, who went to play wing on Saturday.”
The gals take a break over Thanksgiving weekend but head back into action Oct. 15 in Port Alberni as do the men’s thirds.
The men’s match was postponed, as most of the Port Alberni clubs are on tour at the World Cup, reported coach Steve Cowie.
