Zorich, Smith lead attack
Cowichan United is back on track in Div. 2 of the Island Soccer League.
After a rough patch before Christmas when it lost three in a row, United returned to action and scored a 4-1 win over the Vic West Wolves Sunday at McAdam Park.
Steve Zorich and Kevin Smith scored two goals each. Cowichan had many other chances, including a clear-cut breakaway by Jordan Korven, but couldn’t pad the margin.
“We are in third place in a very competitive division,’’ noted United veteran Mark Bhopal. “Any team can win games on any given day.’’
Bhopal felt it was a very solid effort for the team’s first game of the new year, even if it wasn’t always pretty.
“Very bouncy soccer field, hard to control the ball,’’ added Bhopal.
Cowichan went back above the .500 mark at 6-5-2 for the season.
