Cowichan Valley players have a strong presence on the B.C. Rugby Union’s sevens teams heading to the Las Vegas Invitational sevens tournament February 8 to 10.

Under 18 team selections include: Cowichan Rugby Club’s Giuseppe Du Toit, Cameron Hall, Mike Needham and Jenner Teufel; Shawnigan Lake School’s Ollie Nott and Toby Digney from Brentwood College.

B.C. U17 selections include: Cowichan Rugby Club’s George Barton and Michael Henderson; and Shawnigan Lake School’s John Mitchell.

Head coach Shane Thompson made the official announcements last Wednesday.

The Vegas tournament is North America’s largest invitational youth sevens event. The B.C. squads are the defending champions in both the High School Elite and High School boys’ divisions.

Regional and provincial camps helped to identify talent for the squads.
