Islanders lose playoff opener

Kerry Park Islanders lost the first game of their best-of-seven Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League playoff series in Nanaimo Tuesday.

The Islanders fell 5-1 to the Buccaneers, with the lone goal in defeat coming from Corey Peterson.

The Islanders ran into some penalty trouble, giving up 11 power plays that produced two Nanaimo goals.

The second game is Thursday night in Nanaimo. Game three takes place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Kerry Park Arena.
